My name is Zhala Sarmast, I am an 18 years old Afghan girl born and raised in Kabul Afghanistan. I started school in 2004, in Jamhuriat Professional High school, funded by the German Embassy and graduated in November 2017. Meanwhile, I have been busy doing different other activities such as, cycling and coaching the Afghanistan Female National Cycling Team, playing guitar with the Afghanistan National Institute of Music’s Youth Orchestra, learning German and English language, working on different women empowerment projects and working officially with Bayat Media Center as their Website Editor and Translator/Online Journalist. Bayat media center is one of the biggest international TV stations in Afghanistan Working with different people on different projects has been the most eye opening experience in my social and professional life. All these activities helped me travel to few countries, meet with the new people, work on different projects and get some great achievements. One of those great achievements for me was to get nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize (NPP) 2016 along with United States and Colombian President (Donald Trump and Juan Manuel). I did not win the prize, but to be nominated for such a big award with world leaders was a great experience and honor. Currently, I am working on youth, peace building and women empowerment international projects and eye-witnessing that they are having great impacts on their lives.
